Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Java Developer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance backend services and APIs that power our real estate platforms. You will work closely with frontend developers, data engineers, and product teams to deliver scalable and efficient solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain robust, scalable, and secure backend applications using Java 17 and Spring Boot.
• Design and optimize database schemas and queries for PostgreSQL.
• Implement search functionalities using Elasticsearch or OpenSearch.
• Optimize application performance and caching strategies with Redis.
• Deploy, monitor, and manage cloud-based services on AWS (ECS, S3, Lambda, RDS, etc.).
• Ensure high availability and fault tolerance of services using cloud-native architectures.
• Write and maintain unit, integration, and performance tests to ensure software reliability.
• Work with DevOps to implement CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.
• Utilize basic statistical methods for analyzing and processing real estate data.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and contribute to best practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in backend development with Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, including schema design and performance tuning.
• Experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch for building search capabilities.
• Proficiency in Redis for caching and session management.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure management.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and GraphQL API design.
• Basic understanding of statistics and data analysis concepts.
• Experience with Docker and containerized applications.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in an agile environment.
• Experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration.
• Knowledge of real estate data structures and business processes.

Compensation & Time Off

• Compensation & Time Off
• Salary: $5,000 USD per month
• Employment Status: This is a contractor role; you will be engaged as a sole proprietor, not an employee.
• Work Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week. While the standard schedule consists of 8-hour workdays, you may occasionally be encouraged to work 6–7 hours during regular business hours and 1–2 hours after 5 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST) to accommodate meetings or work sessions with our senior backend developer, who is primarily available after 5 PM EST.
• Health Benefits: Not provided.
• Time Off: We believe time off is important! As a contractor, you’ll get paid vacation days based on your country’s standard entitlement—so you can take the time you need, just like a full-time employee would. If your country provides 18 vacation days per year, you’ll receive the same.
