In your role as an Applied ML Scientist, you will work closely with product managers, clinical, engineer teams, and other machine learning (ML) scientists/engineers to discover and evaluate member health signals, experiment, and evaluate models and pipelines to encourage engagement, better care delivery, and improves clinical outcomes.
This is an opportunity to use technical rigor to apply data science to real-world business problems; and experiment and iterate DS/ML in production, for a greater number of people living with chronic and behavioral conditions.
Responsibilities
  • Support detailed analyses, modeling, and experimentation for mission-critical functions within the product lifecycle team driving member engagement, behavior changes and better outcomes.
  • Use advanced machine learning approaches to enhance Teladoc Health products and services. This includes formulating business and product needs as machine learning problems; use technical rigor to identify the techniques and algorithms to pragmatically solve problems related to health signals, care services, and behavioral recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional team to identify the success metrics for ML solutions; design the experimentation, build monitoring dashboard to evaluate the ML solution to demonstrate the impact/values, and identify the improvement needs for agile iteration.
  • Build production ready models to identify and personalize recommendations that improve member/provider experiences and clinical outcomes.
  • Interpret the results of your work for clinical, marketing, product and business decision-makers.
  • Solid communication and stakeholder management skills plus ability to deliver complex projects in time.
Qualifications:
What you bring
  • 4+ years’ experience in Machine Learning, Data Science roles in SaaS or consumer companies.
  • A Master’s degree or higher in computer science, machine learning, information systems, engineering, or a related field.
  • Self-driven individual with strong ML theoretical background and passionate about learning new approaches, techniques, and tools.
  • Deep knowledge of probability, statistics, causal inference, deep learning, and ML algorithms. Expertise with recommender system, scalable model experimentation and iteration is preferred.
  • Familiarity and experience with multi-armed bandit problems, reinforcement learning, Thompson sampling, importance sampling and generative AI (LLM) would be a huge plus.
  • Ability to write clean, robust and reusable code in Python, Spark and SQL. Familiarity with big data platforms (like Spark and Dask), machine learning frameworks (like Tensorflow, Keras or PyTorch) and libraries (like Pandas and Scikit-learn).
  • Experience of the entire ML model lifecycle (modeling approach ideation, data exploration, model development and prototyping, deployment, operation through experimentation, monitoring and iteration).
  • Excellent data analysis and statistical skills to design experimentation, measure impacts and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Familiarities with the cloud ETL and ML pipeline tools like Jenkins, Databricks, MLflow or Airflow.
  • Experience with agile sprint processes to deliver ML work.
  • Great active listening skills to infer product needs and underlying context.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with peers, and respect for user privacy.
